Thank you for your interest in working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Sponsor with IMPACT Community Services, LLC. 

The following are minimum requirements for certification, and are prerequisite to our acceptance of your Application for providing Sponsored residential services:

• You must be at least 21 years of age to be Primary and 18 years of age for Back-Up.
• You must have a minimum of one year experience working directly with Individuals with disabilities (Intellectual and Mental Health).
• You must have obtained a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• You and all adults (age 18 & over) who reside full time in your home must meet Criminal Background Check requirements. At the expense ($70 non refundable) of the DSP, IMPACT Community Services, LLC will conduct checks with the FBI, Virginia State Police, Department of Social Services / Child Protective Services Central Registry, and with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. Certain crimes prohibit the convicted offender from certification with any agency licensed by DBHDS (Department of Behavior Health and Developmental Services); IMPACT is such an agency. Before you apply, please research the list of “Barrier Crimes” to determine whether or not you qualify for certification. If there is another adult residing full-time in your home who has an offense from this list on their record, your application would be rejected for certification as a DSP because of that individual’s record. • All Prospective DSP(s) and Back-Up(s) must sign a DSP Agreement before home is approved.
• All Prospective DSP(s) must be able to provide a 90 day work capital with evidence from a financial institution before fostering an individual. DSP(s) can have up to two Individuals placed in their home; each household can never exceed 7 beds. Before beginning training DSP(s) should have a room available for Individual, this room should have adequate space and should be furnished (please be advised that some Individuals may want to provide their own furnishings).
